max: 13 Transom veneers on a secret
“Transom veneers.
Derek uses the term "veneer", but the sheets are typically 5 or 6mm thick, and behave more like "planks". They are adding structural strength in some areas - cabin sides, for example.
Firstly choose the planks to give a nice grain pattern. After fitting mine here, I realised I should have trimmed them down so that the grey grain was discarded, as I had enough material.
You can't hold these in place with screws, unless you don't mind holes in your veneers, or are going to plug them. I decided to rely solely on the epoxy, so had to find some way of holding the planks down, in a curve against the transom.
I used these wedges repeatedly - most of them came as the packaging for the kit. Paving slabs worked OK, but it was just what I had lying around. ”
